What Happens After Checkout

Ship Within 5 Days

After checkout, you'll receive a shipping and packing label for your used golf club trade-ins. You have 5 days from receiving the label to ship your club(s).

Evaluation and Credit

Once your clubs are received, they're evaluated and we provide the final valuation, usually within 10 business days. If it matches the initial estimate, Cobra Golf automatically credits the form of payment used for your purchase.

If the Value Changes

If your trade-in clubs are valued at less than the initial estimate, you'll be contacted directly.

Requirements and FAQ

Before You Trade In

Requirements

Eligible clubs

Cobra Golf accepts only golf clubs listed in the nationally distributed Golf PriceBook, also known as the PGA Value Guide. Models not listed are currently not being accepted for trade-in. The value listed for each club is an estimate only and is not binding on Cobra Golf. The final valuation and credit will not be made until your clubs are received and inspected as set out below.

You may not trade in clubs worth more than the amount of your purchase. Cobra Golf reserves the right to add and remove clubs from the list of permitted clubs at any time and without notice. You may only send trade-ins from an address in the United States. The Trade-In Program is not offered outside of the United States.

Club condition

All traded-in clubs must be in playable condition and free of defects or damage including, but not limited to, dents, cracks, punctures, rattles, excessive chrome wear, excessive shaft wear, bent or split shafts, or dings in the sole or excessive scratches on the clubface.

Iron sets

Iron sets must be consecutively numbered irons with the highest lofted club ending in a 9 iron, pitching wedge, gap or approach wedge, sand wedge, or lob wedge. Iron sets with missing or damaged clubs are subject to refusal or a reduction of the trade-in value.

All iron sets must include five, six, seven or eight sequential irons. At minimum, the set must have five consecutive pieces including the 6 iron and PW (pitching wedge). Iron sets without the minimum 6–PW configuration will not be accepted. All heads, shaft models, flexes and dexterity must match for an iron set to receive credit.

Any broken iron set (for example, one missing a 7 iron) is not eligible for credit or any applicable trade-in premium.

Altered or modified clubs

Cobra Golf reserves the right to refuse any trade-in item, or to reduce the trade-in value, for clubs that have been altered or are not factory complete including, but not limited to, adjustments in loft or lie angle, shaft change, weight change, missing ferrule, refinished head, missing or damaged grip, unmatched irons, unmatched shaft flex, modifications that are not consistent with original manufacturer product specifications, or other non-factory alterations.

Clubs with the problems above may be refused, or we will offer a lower trade-in value.

Matching your packing slip

If upon inspection the item(s) you trade in do not match the item(s) on your packing slip, the trade-in value will change accordingly, as will any applicable trade-in premium.

Payment and credit

You must pay for your new clubs by credit card. Any credits will be issued to your original payment method.

Shipping

Your shipping label

Cobra Golf's trade-in partner, Global Golf, will email you a prepaid FedEx shipping label and a packing slip. You're responsible for packing and shipping your trade-in clubs using the label and packing slip provided. The label is valid only in the continental United States.

The label is usually emailed within 1–2 hours of completing your trade-in on cobragolf.com, but it can take up to 24 hours because it's sent directly by FedEx.

Packing your clubs

Carefully inspect each item before shipping it. In our experience, certain dents and cracks are easily overlooked if the club isn't examined before packing.

  • Pack all items with suitable protection to prevent damage in transit.
  • Protect metalwood heads with headcovers (if available), bubble wrap or other protective material.
  • Group and band iron sets together.
  • Pack all clubs in golf club shipping cartons to avoid shaft damage.

Your local FedEx store has golf club shipping cartons and packing materials if you need them. Any liability for damage and resulting condition downgrades incurred in transit is the shipper's responsibility.

If your trade-in doesn't meet our criteria

Global Golf will contact you by email first, then by telephone, to explain the issue and offer options for resolution, which may include:

  • Returning the product to you. You're responsible for return shipping charges.
  • A revised trade-in value, where the club meets the minimum conditions above. A counter-offer expires two (2) business days after it's first communicated. If you accept, the adjustment is deducted from your initial trade-in allowance.
  • Disposing of the item, if the club has no value and you agree to its disposal.
  • Repairing the club, if you agree to the repair price and authorize the repair. Repair charges are deducted from your initial trade-in allowance.

If we don't hear from you within five (5) business days of our first email and phone call, the item will be returned to you, its value will be deducted from your initial trade-in estimate, and return shipping will be billed to your credit card.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I expect my trade-in to be processed?

Trade-ins can take up to 10 business days (Monday–Friday) to process from the time we receive your clubs. The credit is issued after that.

Where do the trade-in values come from?

We use The Golf PriceBook, the same price book major retailers and pro shops have used for years, so you get an accurate and fair price for your trade.

Does club condition matter?

Yes. Before receiving a quote, you confirm that your club doesn't need repairs and isn't dented, badly scratched, cracked or heavily sky-marked. Even without those issues, a club that wasn't well cared for will have a lower trade-in value.

What if I can't find my club on the list?

If your club isn't in the selector, we're not currently accepting trades on that club. Please check back, as we update the list often.

What iron set makeups do you accept?

Iron sets must include five, six, seven or eight sequential irons, with at least five consecutive pieces including the 6 iron and PW (pitching wedge). Sets without the minimum 6–PW configuration aren't accepted. All heads, shaft models, flexes and dexterity must match.

What if the item I trade in doesn't match my packing slip?

The trade-in value will change accordingly, as will any applicable trade-in premium.

Will I get a shipping label for my trade-in?

Yes. All trade-ins from the continental United States receive a prepaid FedEx label to send your clubs to us. Every trade-in must include the packing list created when you submit your trade-in online.

Can I get a second shipping label?

We're unable to issue a second shipping label.

I have many items to trade in. Will you send me a large box?

Please pack multiple items in a box large enough to hold them. Your local FedEx store should have a box that fits.

What if my trade-in fails inspection?

We'll do one of the following:

  • Return the product to you. You're responsible for return shipping and must contact us with payment info. Returns ship by FedEx or Purolator at these rates:
Item Base charge Add-on
Single club $10.99 $0.99
Iron sets $14.99 $7.99
  • Dispose of the item, if the club has no value and you agree to its disposal.
  • Repair the club, if you agree to the repair price and authorize the repair. Repair charges are deducted from your initial trade-in allowance.
What happens to my trade-in credit if I return my purchase?

Your trade-in value will be applied as a one-time code for use on cobragolf.com.
