  • The LPGA Lets Lexi Play!

Lexi Thompson has officially been granted her 2012 LPGA Tour Card.

After Lexi's historic win at the Navistar LPGA Classic, she had to petition to earn her 2012 LPGA Tour card due to her age. While we believed she should be granted the card right away, she still needed to go through the proper requirements and submit her petition for the LPGA to decide. They decided and she's in.

Lexi became the youngest professional golfer to win an LPGA event after she won by 5 strokes at the Navistar LPGA Classic. Following her win, COBRA PUMA GOLF launched the #LetLexiPlay campaign to rally support for her dream to be a member of the LPGA Tour. On Friday, September 30th Mike Whan (LPGA Commissioner) helped make that dream come true by waiving the age requirement for Lexi.

Lexi outdrove the field at the Navistar LPGA Classic and we're excited to see what heat she brings next year to the LPGA Tour.

Congratulations, Lexi - this is well deserved!

  • Lexi Thompson Makes History

On Sunday, September 18, Lexi Thompson made history. Winning the Navistar LPGA Classic at only 16 years old made Lexi the youngest professional in history to win on the LPGA, PGA, Men's European and Nationwide Tours.

Lexi took control of the tournament early, putting up scores of 66, 68, 67 and 70.  Taking the lead in the second round, Lexi consistently lead the pack by 4 or more strokes, thanks to her amazing play and amazing distance off the tee. Using her COBRA equipment, Lexi hit 63/72 greens in regulation, made 22 birdies and led the ladies in driving distance with 276.63 yards.

Lexi achieved Medalist Honors in the first round of Qualifying School this past July when she topped the leaderboard by scoring 23 under and winning by 10 strokes. Now, the question to be answered is whether or not the LPGA will grant Lexi her 2012 Tour card for the win without finishing the final two rounds of Q-School.

COBRA PUMA GOLF signed Lexi in June, 2010 when she was 15 years old. Lexi was the first athlete to sign with both the COBRA and PUMA brands and is now the first COBRA PUMA GOLF athlete to win on Tour.

Joining the LPGA Tour and winning has been a dream of Lexi’s since she was a little girl. Lexi’s family, Scott and Judy (parents) and Nick and Curtis (brothers) have been supportive of her dream since she was a young girl but never backed down on education. Lexi is home schooled through her local high school’s program and has the same academic education as her peers. She has been dually conquering high school and professional golf, exceeding in both worlds. Lexi’s brothers have played golf with her since she was young and now as a professional, Lexi’s dad is her caddie.

Join us in congratulating Lexi and her fantastic first win on the LPGA Tour by joining the discussion on facebook.com/cobra and @cobragolf

  • Ian Poulter and Johan Edfors Get Ready for The PGA Championship

This week marks the final major of the 2011 PGA Tour season. The PGA Championship is being held August 8th-14th at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia.

There are some great golfers hitting the course this week, including COBRA Tour Staffers Ian Poulter and Johan Edfors.

Ian and Johan arrived in Atlanta early on in the week to get ready for the final major of the season. Hot and humid weather didn't stop them from hitting the driving range in preparation of the big week. Both were out on Monday at the range and practicing on the course. (Ian even tweeted a photo of the temperature reading in his car on Monday, 99 degrees Farenheit!)

Ian and Johan are both stylish guys, which may be part of the reason they've opted to play COBRA's white drivers. Ian plays the White ZL Driver designed for maximum distance and Johan plays the White S3 Driver with E9 Face Technology for increased distance and accuracy. Both will be playing with new white and light green COBRA Staff bags this week as well.

Ian tees off with Bubba Watson and Jeff OVerton at 8:45 AM for round 1 and 1:55 PM for round 2. Johan is paired up with Mike Small and Chris Kirk for a 12:50 PM round 1 tee time and a 7:40 AM tee time on Friday. (all times in EST)

  • Ian Poulter at The Bridgestone Invitational

Ian Poulter is in the States for the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. Ian is playing with K.J. Choi for the first two round of the tournament.

Ian is currently ranked at 16 on the Official World Golf Rankings. COBRA's Tour Rep is out at Firestone with Ian and snagged us some photos during Ian's practice rounds earlier in the week. Check them out here!

  • A Force of Cobra Golfers Storm the Courses this Week

It's a big week for Cobra Golf Staffer! Seven of our Tour Staffers (and one on an alternate list) are playing in tournaments this week, we don't know we'll keep up with all of them - but we will!

Lexi Thompson, Anna Nordqvist and Lee-Anne Pace are all playing in The Evian Masters in France this week. In last year's Evian Masters, Anna finished 5 under at T19, Lee-Ane finished even par for the T44 slot and Lexi put up a 13 under for the T2 position. This will be the last Evian Masters played before it turns into a Major in the 2012 season. Johan Edfors is also playing across the pond in his native Sweden in The Nordea Masters. He'll be playing his S3 Driver, S3 Fairway, Baffler Pro 1/R and S3 Pro Irons.

Stateside, Blair O'Neal will be playing in The International at Concord in New Hampshire at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course. Blair will participate in junior clinics and the pro-am ahead of the 54 hole event. And for the boys we have Jonas Blixt and Diego Velasquez playing in the Children's Hospital Invitational. Manny Villegas is on the alternate list for the same event.

We're excited to keep tabs on everyone all week, be sure to check back here for photos of the Cobra gang and stay up to date with all of the action at http://twitter.com/cobragolf and http://facebook.com/cobra

  • The Cobra Sapphire Set - A Perfect Fit for Ladies Looking to Improve Their Game

Cobra recently released our new Women's Sapphire Set. This set is designed for mid to high handicap golfers as well as the ladies looking to step onto the course for the first time.

The Sapphire Set is a complete, pre-customized set that is perfect for those women looking to improve their game with a stylish set of clubs. The set includes a titanium driver, 3-fairway, 5-hybrid, 7-hybrid, 8-iron, 9-iron, pitching wedge, gap wedge, sand wedge, putter, cart bag and accessories pouch. Not only does the set come with everything you need for the course, but it gives you options to represent your individual style on the course. One set comes with pink detailing and an argyle shaft graphic, while the other features blue details and a blue shaft graphic. Each set offers the same performance benefits, but it's up to you choose which style best suits you.

The technology behind the Sapphire Set is what makes it the ideal set for ladies just starting out or with mid to high handicaps. The driver features Cobra's infamous 9 Point Face TechnologyTM, which (in basic terms) means the shape and material of the face creates 9 points across a massive Sweet Zone® that helps generate increased ball speed, even if you don't strike the ball in the center of the face. The Baffler style hybrids feature a four way rail sole along the bottom of the club, helping you reduce the amount of club that comes in contact with the ground for maximum forgiveness. The irons and hybrids also feature Consistent Distance Gapping which provides consistent and reliable distances from one club to the next, giving you more consistency and confidence in your game.

If you'd like to try out the Sapphire Set, you can locate a dealer near you http://bit.ly/kIjwOs , or if you have any questions about the set, reach out to us through the 'Ask Us' tab on the left hand side of our Contact Us page http://bit.ly/lOsFRb
