  • Ian Poulter: Master at Match Play

The 2012 Ryder Cup was a fight to the finish and Ian Poulter reminded everyone why he is the Master of Match Play.

Ian went 4 and 0, defeating every opponent he went up against. This puts his all time record (he’s been at four Ryder Cups) at 12-3-0 and he is undefeated in singles matches at all four Ryder Cups.

Ian rejuvenated his team with a 5 hole birdie run in Saturday afternoon’s Four-ball match that gave his team another point. That energy carried over to Sunday where Ian took the point in his singles match.

Ian energized the team through his emotion, fist pumping and cheering. He thrived in the Ryder Cup setting and cherished every minute of it.

Ian used the ZL Encore Driver, AMP 3Wood, Baffler Rail 2/H and S3 Pro Irons on his way to victory and rocked custom colored PUMA Golf Neo Classic Pro Types on the course.

  • AMP CELL Driver. One Driver. Six Settings. Four Fresh Colors.

COBRA Golf is bringing something juicy (again!) with the launch of the AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro Drivers. Unlike any other driver available in the market, the AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro Drivers feature COBRA’s new breakthrough MyFly technology, allowing golfers to select from 6 different loft/trajectory settings (in one club) for optimized performance and distance based on a golfers’ swing or weather and course conditions. In addition to MyFly technology, COBRA is reaffirming its status as the first club manufacturer to offer a choice in color by creating the AMP CELL Driver in four fresh colors - Silver, Directoire Blue, Barbados Red and Vibrant Orange.

“The AMP CELL Driver offers golfers the adjustability, innovation, customization and choice they want but have not been able to get - until now,” said Bob Philion, President. “We are taking adjustability to another level with our MyFly technology, offering 6 different loft/trajectory settings golfers can change to adapt to their swing or playing conditions. The technology combined with the color choice reaffirms COBRA’s positioning as a performance driven brand infusing more joy into the game.”

MyFly Technology offers a simple solution for golfers to optimize trajectory and distance. The AMP CELL Driver can be adjusted to the following lofts with a simple wrench; 8.5°, 9.5°, 9.5° Draw, 10.5°, 10.5° Draw and 11.5°; and the AMP CELL Pro can be adjusted to 7.5°, 8.5°, 8.5° Fade, 9.5°, 9.5° Fade and 10.5°. Golfers can now customize their club based on swing speed (higher lofts for slower swing speeds and lower lofts for faster swing speeds), weather (lower lofts to bring ball flight down on windy days) and course conditions (higher lofts for more carry).

The AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro take adjustability a step further with SmartPad technology. Unlike other drivers that require a golfer to adjust the sole plate after adjusting loft for a square face, COBRA’s proprietary SmartPad technology delivers a square face at address regardless of loft setting and still allows for workability to slightly open or close the face as desired.

COBRA’s E9 Face TechnologyTM with dual roll is used in the AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro Drivers for an elliptical face shape with a canted bulge and roll that improves distance and accuracy on mis-hits from heel to toe and above and below the centerline.

Advanced Material PlacementTM and Cell technology work together to enable a 12% larger elliptical E9 Face shape to deliver faster ball speeds and high MOI (moment of inertia) on mis-hits. The Cell technology saves and redistributes weight in a granular way and is visible on the drivers in the Cell band which wraps around to the crown. This wrap also visibly shows a golfer where the weight is distributed, with the AMP CELL Driver having a CG optimized for low-mid handicap players, the AMP CELL Pro using a lower, more neutral CG position for better players and the AMP CELL Offset have a heel-biased CG for slice correction.

Taking choice and customization one step further, COBRA is offering the AMP CELL Driver in four fresh colors; Directoire Blue, Silver, Vibrant Orange and Barbados Red. The AMP CELL Pro is offered in Vibrant Orange and Silver. The sole of the club features a curved Cell band in the featured color and the crown of the club is the solid featured color. In the AMP CELL, the white Fujikura Fuel shaft features an edgy paint splatter graphic.

The AMP CELL Driver is also available in an offset model designed to help tame a slice. The offset design offers the golfer more time to square the face at impact and provides more heel-biased weighting to help hit straighter drives. The AMP CELL Offset Driver features an MRC COBRA AMP Shaft and a Lamkin COBRA REL grip. The Offset model is Revolver Grey with hints of Barbados Red.

The COBRA AMP CELL Driver (MAP $299) is available in both right and left handed models with My Fly technology which allows any driver you purchase to be adjusted from 8.5° to 11.5° loft settings, including 9.5° and 10.5° draw settings. It is available in Stiff, Regular and Lite flexes and features a Fujikura Fuel shaft (60g S and R, 55g L and 45.75” length) and has a 460cc head.

The COBRA AMP CELL Pro Driver (MAP $399) is available in both right and left handed models with My Fly technology which allows any driver you purchase to be adjusted from 7.5° to 10.5° loft settings, including 8.5° and 9.5° fade settings. It features a MRC Kurokage shaft (65g and 45.25” length) and has a 440cc head.

The AMP CELL Offset Driver (MAP $249) is available in 10.5° in Stiff, Regular or Lite flexes for both right hand and left hand models. It is also available in a right hand 11.5° model in either Regular or Lite flexes.

The AMP CELL, AMP CELL Pro and AMP CELL Offset Drivers will be available at retail on February 8th, 2013. To find an authorized COBRA dealer near you, visit http://cobragolf.com/dealer-locator

The AMP CELL Driver is not alone in color or technology. AMP CELL Fairways and Hybrids also feature MyFly technology and are available in the same four colors while the AMP CELL Irons are a clean silver with hints of color. • Lexi Looks For Back-to-Back Wins

It was one year ago that Lexi Thompson, at the young age of 16,  won the Navistar Classic. Even more exciting than taking home the lion's share of the $1.3 million purse, Lexi's win established her as the youngest LPGA player to ever win on Tour.

This year, joined by COBRA PUMA staffer and friend, Anna Nordqvist, Lexi is back at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Pratville, Alabama and ready to rock. Check out photos as she gets ready to defend her title. And don't forget to join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #back2back.

  • COBRA Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Baffler

COBRA Golf is celebrating its rich heritage and launching the all new Baffler Hybrid Irons and Baffler Hybrid Iron Combo sets just ahead of the company’s 40th anniversary. The Baffler Hybrid Irons take key technology from COBRA’s iconic Baffler® Hybrids to create an easy to hit iron that delivers maximum forgiveness, higher launch and improved distance; it truly is Golf Made Easy.

“Our Baffler products have helped make golf easier for generations,” said Bob Philion, President of COBRA PUMA GOLF. “We’ve taken the best design elements from our heritage and updated them with modern technologies to create an easy to hit Baffler Hybrid Iron that truly takes our Baffler family to the next level, making golf easier for golfers around the world.”

COBRA introduced the Baffler, the first utility wood, in 1975; two years after the company was founded by Tom Crow. It changed the game with its patented railed sole for effective ball striking from any lie condition. Since then, COBRA has developed and further improved on the original Baffler technology. The Baffler Hybrid Irons use a railed sole, influenced by the Baffler but designed specifically for irons, to reduce turf drag, providing easy contact and easy launch from all lie conditions.

The progressive, oversized face profile provides high MOI for superior forgiveness as well as a low center of gravity for easy up. E9 Face TechnologyTM brings a variable thickness face that progresses from short to long irons, providing faster ball speeds and greater distance on off center hits while a full back cavity TPU tunes vibrations to improve sound and feel on all shots.

The Baffler Hybrid Irons are also available in a Baffler Hybrid Iron Combo set (men’s and women’s), where the long irons are replaced with easy to hit Baffler Hybrids. The Baffler Hybrids have a wide, railed sole and shallow face for high and easy launch as well as a top-line alignment system for added confidence.

The COBRA Baffler Hybrid Irons are available in right and left handed models in steel (4-PW, GW), graphite (4-PW, GW) and graphite lite (5-PW, GW, SW) sets.  MAP is $499 for steel (stiff or regular) sets and $599 for graphite (stiff, regular or lite) sets. The COBRA Baffler Hybrid Iron Combo Sets are available in right and left handed models in steel irons and graphite hybrids (4-6h, 7-PW, GW) and graphite hybrids and irons (4-6h, 7-PW, GW). MAP is $599 for steel (stiff or regular) combo sets and $699 (stiff, regular, lite) for graphite combo sets.  All Baffler Irons and Hybrids feature a Lamkin COBRA REL Grip. Baffler Hybrids feature an MRC COBRA Baffler Hybrid shaft and Baffler Irons feature an MRC COBRA Baffler Iron shaft. The full set is Revolver Grey with Barbados Red highlights.

In the women’s line, the Baffler Hybrid Iron Combo set is available in right and left handed graphite models (4-6h, 7-PW, SW) with MAP of $699. They feature a COBRA Winn Wrap grip and an MRC COBRA Baffler Hybrid/Iron shaft. The set is Capri Blue with silver highlights.

  • Playoffs? Yes, COBRA is Heading to the Playoffs!

With fall quickly upon us and thoughts of leaves changing and football taking over, the PGA Tour season is turning into high gear with the 2012 FedEx Cup Playoffs beginning this week at the Barclays played at the famed Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, NY.

As in the NFL where a record number of rookie quarterbacks are expected to start for their respective teams this season, the COBRA Team's own PGA Tour rookie Jonas Blixt is looking towards the autumn to make a name for himself on the national stage. His reward for a rock solid season? Landing a treasured spot in the playoffs!

Let's review some of his highlights from the 2012 season and take a peek inside his bag to see the tools applied to help him get the job done:

    • (3) top 40s by the 1st of April while he got his footing under him on the world's premiere golf tour
    • Snagged his first ever PGA Tour top 20 at Zurich Classic in April finishing strong with an impressive 67 on Sunday
    • Had (3) straight top 10 finishes in the month of May including a T3 at the HP Byron Nelson where he put together a 67-66 on the weekend!

On the power of his ZL Encore (Black) and Baffler T-Rail hybrid, Jonas led the Tour in eagles made this year and will be relying heavily on those COBRA clubs as well as his S3 Pro MB irons as he looks to advance to the second round of the playoffs over Labor Day Weekend.

Jonas joins Rickie Fowler and Ian Poulter in making it a perfect 3 for 3 for COBRA's fully exempt PGA Tour Staff professionals in qualifying for the 2012 FedEx Cup Playoffs.

    Good luck Guys!

  • Poults Rolls On Through PGA Championship Midway Point

Despite blustery conditions that sent scores soaring, Ian Poulter posted his second straight sub par round at The Ocean Course, Kiawah Island on Friday and looked comfortable doing so. His second round 71 was well below the field average of just below 78, a scoring average that was the toughest in the history of the PGA Championship.

How tough was it out there? There were more rounds in the 90's than there were in the 60's. WOW!

Ian's steady tee to green play with his Cobra equipment from his ZL Encore White driver off the tee to his precise iron shots with his S3 Pro irons have allowed him to be one of only two players in the 156 player field to better Kiawah's often brutal par 72 both days.

Beyond his obvious comfort with his Adjustable Flight technology (AFT) setting in his ZL Encore, Poults is clearly comfortable with his AMP fairway metal as well as his Baffler Rail hybrid, two clubs which have become crucial with ball control at an absolute premium at the Ocean Course.

With the third round on the horizon Saturday, look for Poults to be ready for the challenge.

With longer, more forgiving technology in his bag, why wouldn't he be?

  • Rickie and Ian Take on WGC Bridgestone Invitational

As the PGA Tour season rapidly heads toward the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the Ryder Cup, COBRA Golf brand ambassadors Ian Poulter and Rickie Fowler are gearing up for their last tournaments of the Tour’s regular season this coming weekend and next.

This week is the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio followed by the PGA Championship in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. A world golf event followed by a Major to kick off August? And we thought the fall months were where the action heated up!!

Ian comes into Akron playing very consistently with top 10’s in each of his last two starts and will enter the PGA with a pair of top 10’s in Majors this year. Unlike his last start, however, look for him to be able to reach into his Cobra bag for his ZL Encore driver much more often this week than he was able to playing links golf at Royal Lytham & St Annes. And when the tight fairways await in the Palmetto state, look for Poults to tackle some of the tighter driving holes with his juicy AMP 3 wood and his Baffler rail hybrid.

For his part, Rickie looks to jump back into playing competitively for consecutive weeks for the first time in two months and will do so with his awesome AMP Driver. This sweet driver has the innovative technology that has seen Fowler move from just inside the top 100 in total driving in 2011 to comfortably inside the top 20 in 2012. An amazing jump in the one driving stat that takes into account both distance and accuracy. Look for some serious AMPlification amongst Rickie’s legions of fans along the fairways of both Firestone CC and the Kiawah Island Resort in the coming weeks.

    An elite, invitation-only field.

    Glory’s last shot.

The playoffs and Ryder Cup on the horizon.

Good thing these guys have Fresh. Juicy. Sweet. Technology on their side.

  • Rickie and Ian at The Open

This week, RIckie Fowler and Ian Poulter are after the Claret Jug as they compete in golf's oldest and most storied tournament, The Open Championship!

Rickie continues his breakthrough year, which has already netted him his first PGA TOUR victory, beating a first rate field at the Wells Fargo Championship and seeing him grab 2nd a week later at the year's deepest field in THE Players Championship. Can he take home his first major? A T5 at last year's Open Championship should help provide AMPle evidence that he is capable.

Ian returns home with much optimism as well, having grabbed a top 10 both at this year's Masters and at his most recent start, the Alstom Open de France where he grabbed 4th place two weeks ago. Will Poults thrill the home crowd with a victory and what would sure to be fitting of an Encore celebration? We will find out Sunday as the sun sets on Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

Interested in what our guys are playing this week on Tour? Check out their bags below:
