Hi,

I would like to order new shaft with hosel sleeves for my ZL driver but since there’s no distributor in Singapore, is there any of your distributor able to ship internationally?

As mentioned that the hosel sleeves is not sold seperately, I could hardly to reshaft my ZL in Singapore. Please help.

Thank You

I have a Cobra ZL 9.5 deg with the stock ZooDoo stiff flex shaft.  What shafts in the 60-65g range would you recommend to lower the spin rate?  Thanks, Mike

I have a Cobra ZL with the stock Voodoo shaft in stiff flex.  I also have a House of Forged 0.335 shaft which I would like to use as a second shaft.  I would like the ability to interchange between the Voodoo shaft or the House of Forged shaft.  If the hosel sleeve is not sold separately, can I bring the House of Forged shaft to a Cobra retailer and have them install this shaft on a hosel sleeve?  What would I be charged for the sleeve and installation?  Thanks, Mike

Hi Julian,

As you have discovered, not every stock shaft we offer is going to work for every golfer. That is why we offer a huge variety of aftermarket shafts through our custom department. You can download the entire list here:

http://www.cobragolf.com/supporting/CustomShafts.pdf

With that said, if the stiff shaft on the S2 driver felt too whippy for you, chances are that it will feel the same way with the ZL head (or any head for that matter). Your best bet is to get professionally fit or at least go somewhere where you can demo a handful of different shafts. That is the only way to be sure you are getting the best shaft and driver head combination for your game.

Hi Guys.  Tried a demo ZL driver the other day - like the technology mix a lot - great setup to ball, sound much better and hit it reasonably well - but just with the stock standard regular flex Cobra Voodoo shaft.
Unfortunately not a great number of shaft options available at fitter. I’m 68,yo play to 10 and hit my current driver (an old Taylor Made) 225 -235 metres. My swing speed is 86mph.  My question is this - I have a Callaway FT 3 and 5 wood - which I hit as well as I hit any club.  They both have a Fujikura Fit On E 160 regular shaft - which obviously suits me fine.  Which of the current Fuji range would your fitters advise me trying with the ZL driver.  Really appreciate this most informative blog.

Where can you buy the additional swing-weight screws?

Sorry Matthew, that’s not quite right. Just to clarify, the tip size of the two stock shafts are different - one is .350 and the other is .335. Therefore, we have two different sized hosel sleeves to accommodate those different shafts. However, once the hosel sleeves are in place, the shafts can be interchanged with the same driver head.

WRONG, i have a ZL and an S2 and the shafts are interchangable…...the ZL is .350 and so is the S2

Is the stock shaft on the Cobra S2 driver a .350 or .335 hosel? Thanks

Eric,

We only have one heavy weight screw (10g). If you takes 1” off the shaft, that equals about 6 swingweight points which would make the driver about C8 (with the stock 6gm weight screw). Using a 10g weight will add 2 swingweight points, making it D0. Hope that helps.

Hi Ellsworth,

Actually, ONLY the stock ZL Voodoo shaft has a .350 tip. We offer no other shafts in .350 tip, only .335. And yes, the same torque wrench works for both AFT face adjustment and the heel weight in the ZL.

Hi Cobra—been reading this blog and appreciate all the useful responses you’ve been providing.  I’m very interested in the ZL and S2 (need to demo though)—but have a couple technical questions.

I understand that the stock ZL shaft is .350” and will come installed on a .350” sleevet.  If one of the custom shafts is ordered, are those also .350” or will Cobra use a .335” sleeve?

Does this also apply to the ZL?

Also, does the torque wrench for face angle adjustment also work on the weights?  Or will a separate wrench need to be ordered along with the swing weights?

Thanks!

I was wanting to have the shaft on my ZL driver cut to 45”. Which weight would you recommend to get as close as I can to the stock swing weight? It has the stock Voo Doo shaft in REG flex. Thanks
Eric

Steve,

It depends which Voodoo shaft you have (and personal preference). Is it the stock Cobra Voodoo shaft or an aftermarket version? Also, did you do an customization to the length of your shaft?

Let us know and we can let you know which swing weight screw is appropriate.

Dez,

Cobra currently makes two drivers - the Cobra S2 and ZL. Both are exceptional drivers and have been proven at both the amateur and professional level. Both feature our Adjustable Flight Technology and are very forgiving on off-center hits. The main difference is that the ZL is a multi-material driver that uses composite materials to help move weight where it helps the golfer the most.

We would not be able to say whether one driver would be better for you than the other - your best bet is to get professionally fit (or at least demo the two drivers at a demo day or retailer location). However, being brand new to golf, we would suggest you look closely at the ZL - it’s very forgiving, goes a long way and can be adjusted if you find your drives are going left or right. (But that can be said for the S2 as well so you should really try them both if you can.) Good luck!
