CAMILO VILLEGAS POWERS WAY TO FIRST PGA TOUR VICTORY AT BMW CHAMPIONSHIP Powered by King Cobra Driver, Fairway Metals and Irons

Carlsbad, CA (September 8, 2008)Camilo Villegas captured his first career PGA TOUR title with a two-shot, wire-to-wire win at the BMW Championship.  Representative of the new breed of young, powerful players on the PGA TOUR, Villegas is powered by the King Cobra L4V Driver, King Cobra Speed LD Fairway Metals and King Cobra Pro CB Irons.  He becomes the third Cobra Brand Ambassador to win on the 2008 PGA TOUR, following J.B. Holmes’ victory at the FBR Open and Geoff Ogilvy’s win at the WGC-CA Championship.  He also becomes the 10th first-time PGA TOUR winner this year.  The victory is the second as a professional for Villegas as he captured the Coca-Cola Tokai Classic in Japan in 2007.

The long-hitting native of Colombia finished at 15-under (265), which included four consecutive rounds in the 60’s and an average of 297 yards off the tee.   With inclement weather delaying the start of the tournament from Thursday to Friday, Villegas played 72 holes in three days, including 23 holes on Sunday.  The 26-year-old held the lead before the start of each round and is the first player in 12 years to win his first PGA Tour event with a wire-to-wire victory.

The BMW Championship is the third leg of the PGA TOUR Playoffs, and the last event before The TOUR Championship.  Villegas vaulted to 2nd place in the FedExCup standings following his victory.  He has been one of the hottest players in golf as of late, finishing T3 at last week’s Deutsche Bank Championship and T4 at the PGA Championship.  He posted a T9 at the U.S. Open in June.

Villegas currently ranks 11th on the official PGA TOUR Money List with more than $3 million in earnings and moved into the Top 20 in the Official World Golf Ranking (No. 18) following the win.

What’s in Camilo’s Cobra Bag?: Driver: King Cobra L4V X (9.0) Fairway Metals: King Cobra Speed LD (3 and 5) Irons: King Cobra Pro CB (5-P), Carbon CB (3)

With three Top 4 finishes in his last four starts, the momentum continues for Villegas and Cobra in 2008.  A powerful performance from a powerful player … and business as usual for a brand focused on developing innovative, high performance clubs.

Nice to see Camillo get his first win. Saw him at this year’s Canadian Open up close as I was a marshal on hole #11 at Glen Abbey, he’s definitely due for a few more.

Did Camilo change the lofts of his 3 and 5 irons any to compensate for taking his 4 out?
