Cobra S3 Driver

With all the adjustable drivers with so many configurations these days, I was looking for a newer-model (not 2012) driver that was simple in its adjustability (Open, Neutral, Closed) with a classic-looking profile at address.

I previously played a Taylormade ‘09 Burner and have a tendency to fight a hook. I wanted something adjustable, while affordable with a reputation for low-spin and big sweet spot. I read other great reviews on the S3.

The option to open the face helped my hook a great deal, turning it into a controlled draw. I attribute that to proper fitting, but if I become a little inconsistent at times mid-round, a simple adjustment can help control the flight a lot. I also gained 20 yards on my old driver, and really do think the tall face benefits in forgiveness.

I’ve only played two rounds with the driver so far, but I’ve already gone from a shorter, inconsistent hitter to hitting more fairways and breaking the 300 mark every now and again. Of course, different clubs for different folks, but this one worked wonders for me.

Thanks Cobra! Also, I was interested in the AMP… I’ll take some serious consideration when you produce one a bit more… subtle in color profile. Otherwise, your engineers are killing it.

I just got my new S3 driver. It feels solid and goes forever. First time out and I’m 20+ yards farther, even in December. I’m stoked!

I have played Cobra drivers and fairway woods for many years, always satisfied with the clubs… until now.. This S3 driver does not perform well at all. Distance is off 30+ yards from my previous Cobra driver, an old 10.5 454cc Comp driver. I’ve asked others to hit the driver, and all comment on its poor distance and lack of solid feel..
VERY Disappointed in this product..

We’re sorry to hear that the S3 is not working for you. A question: did you get fit for the S3? We always encourage everyone to get fit for - or at least demo - a driver before purchase. Every person’s swing is different so certain clubs will fit your game better than others.

With that said, we won’t put a driver out unless we feel there is an appreciable improvement over the previous generation, so to lose 30+ yards from a previous generation driver seems odd. If you did get fit or demo the S3 and it is not performing as anticipated, there could be something wrong with it. We would encourage you to contact our customer support and talk about getting the club inspected to make sure there isn’t a problem with it. 800-917-3300. The S3 driver is a wonderful club. Great feel and control, for me a slight fade is normal but with this driver set in neutral I hit it right where I’m aiming. I’ve owned the LV5 and S2 but for me this driver outperforms them both. I liked this so much I have bought the 3 and 5 wood and sold my S2 irons and bought the S3 iron set. Cobra makes great golf clubs, if you have never hit them give them a try you won’t be sorry.

I have the ping g15 driver which connects the ball very well, I just bought the s3 but I always leave deflected to the right, I do not know if I should change the position of the head of the drive for best results

The right stuff - conventional look, feel and sound.  Very solid club!

I have ladies S3 irons and want loft information please.  Also looking at 5 and 3 wood and need loft info on those as well. 
Also have a S3 Blur and 4 hybrid

I have just purchased the S3 10.5, definatley longer than my previous club but what is most impressive is the ball flight and ease of strike - neutral club setting as I play with a slight draw. A much more clasical looking club than previous offerings - very satisfied with my choice (I purchased the 3 & 5 fairways as well - excellent)

I’ve been a Cobra club player since the late 90’s and everytime I’ve tried to switch to something else I always come back to Cobra, but after just purchasing this new S3 driver, I am very disappointed. After seeing all the rave reviews on added distance, ect. I am disappointed with the performance. if anything I’d say I lose 20 yards with this club, which I don’t need happening. probably the first Cobra driver of all the versions I had bought over the years that I have to say I am not happy with.

I traded in my Taylormade R9 for this driver.  I am hitting the S3 20 yards farther and it is easier to hit.  I am just amazed at the performance of this club.

I just traded my Cobra L5v 9.5 driver with a senior shaft for an S3 9.5 driver with a Senior shaft.I played with both for a couple of days at Myrtle Beach and found the S3 to be 5-7 yards longer on average and much more forgiving than my L5V.
