Cobra Golf introduces King Cobra L4V drivers

The first driver to take four of the USGA performance variables to the limit

CARLSBAD, CA (October 9, 2007) - Cobra Golf announces the release of its most technologically advanced driver, the King Cobra L4V. The name stands for Limit 4 Variables because this revolutionary new driver is designed up to the limit of four USGA defined performance variables: Max COR (.830), max head dimensions (5"by <5"), max volume (460cc), and maximum inertia or MOI.

"The L4V driver line is a direct result of Cobra's commitment to developing the industry's highest performing drivers via innovative, advanced design and technology," said Jeff Harmet, President, Cobra Golf and Titleist Clubs.

From the carbon composite crown and sole section to the tungsten back-weighting, this multi-material driver has been designed for maximum distance and accuracy. In addition, all of this technology has been paired with one of the most advanced shafts on the market, the Cobra/Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Red Board, featuring Cobra's exclusive Dynamic Shaft Balancing System. The L4V is available in X, F and M models, each Speed Tuned to the golfer's ball speed for maximum distance and accuracy.

"The Cobra R&D team designed this clubhead to the limit of USGA regulations for MOI, COR, head volume and dimensions," said Scott Rice, Director of Research and Development. "The L4V is the most advanced, highest performing driver we have ever produced, providing all player types the ultimate in distance and accuracy." L4V drivers will begin shipping on November 1 with a suggested retail price of $480.

LIMIT 4 VARIABLES
Max MOI
The ultra-lightweight carbon composite crown and sole section, along with high-density tungsten back weighting, work together to shift weight low and back, generating a Moment of Inertia up to 5900. The result is that the L4V has the highest MOI of any driver Cobra has ever built – as well as the highest allowed by the USGA. This means less clubhead twisting at impact, promoting more power and forgiveness on off-center hits.
Max size
Clubhead dimensions have a strict limit of 5"by <5". By taking the dimension variable to the limit, Cobra engineers pushed the weight low and back, resulting in higher launch and longer drives.
Max COR
Cobra's patented Dual Rhombus Face insert technology, combined with the largest face area in golf, optimizes face flex to provide maximum COR across the clubface for the ultimate in ball speedand distance.
Max volume
Cobra has also taken clubhead volume to the max. At 460 cubic centimeters, the L4V offers maximum power and forgiveness.

L4V DRIVER TECHNOLOGY
Largest face with dual rhombus face insert:
Cobra's patented Dual Rhombus Face insert technology optimizes face flex to provide maximum COR across the clubface to maximize ball speed for increased distance.
Carbon composite crown and sole sections with tungsten weighting:
Work together to shift weight low and back, generating a Moment of Inertia up to 5900.
Cobra/Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Red Board shafts:
Premium speed-tuned shafts with dynamic shaft balancing system maximize ball speed and accuracy.

DYNAMIC SHAFT BALANCING
The Cobra/Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Red Board shaft features Cobra's exclusive Dynamic Shaft Balancing technology. This technology enables Cobra design engineers to reposition more mass (4 to 6 grams) in the L4V head, maximize MOI and maintain optimal swing weight (D3). Furthermore, the Cobra/Mitsubishi Diamana Red Board shafts have been Speed Tuned to maximize ball speed for all player types.

Cobra/Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Red Board X/Speed (62g):
Shaft balance point has been shifted slightly closer to the grip for extreme ball speed players requiring High Launch and Low Spin.
Cobra/Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Red Board F/Speed (57g):
Shaft balance point has been shifted closer to the grip for fast ball speed players requiring High Launch and Low-Mid Spin.
Cobra/Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Red Board M/Speed (52g):
Shaft balance point is closest to the grip for moderate ball speed players requiring High Launch and Mid Spin.

SPEED TUNING
L4V drivers have been designed via Cobra Golf's proprietary Speed Tuning technical platform. The Speed Tuning process allows golfer's to optimize their ball speed, launch, and spin to maximize distance and accuracy. L4V features three speed tuned models (X, F, M) as noted below.

L4V/ X L4V/ F L4V/ M
Current Ball Speed 150+ mph 125-155 mph 110-140 mph
Current Swing Speed 104+ mph 87-108 mph 76-97 mph
Current Average Drive 265+ yards 220-275 yards 210-250 yards
Player Profile Tuned to give extreme ball speed players high launch, lower spin and added workability to optimize their distance and accuracy. Tuned to optimize fast ball speed players’ distance and accuracy by providing a slight draw-bias ball flight, high launch and low to mid spin. Tuned to give moderate ball speed players unmatched distance and forgiveness with a maximum draw-bias head design, lighter shafts, extra high launch and mid spin.
