Driver - E9 Face Technology with Dual Roll - Tech Icon

    A Smarter Sweet Zone®

Most drivers have a circular sweet spot because club designers assume that’s the shape of most golfer’s mis-hits. Well, we tested thousands of golfers and learned something new: typical mis-hits occur in an elliptical pattern as shown by the 25,000 captured shots here.

Driver - E9 Face Technology with Dual Roll - Tech Icon

    Elliptical, Hotter Face

We created E9 Face Technology™ with an elliptical face shape-—driving a 30% larger Sweet Zone. Golfers benefit by hitting longer, more accurate drives because the face has been designed knowing where miss-hits really occur.

Driver - E9 Face Technology with Dual Roll - Tech Icon

    Dual Roll

This revolutionary new design has different curvature on the top vs. the bottom of the face. Each loft is designed with a specific upper roll vs. lower roll, resulting in longer drives for shots hit above and below face center.

E9 Face Technology With Dual Roll

A 30% Larger Sweet Zone and a new approach to bulge and roll design delivers distance and accuracy.

Wow, If I can hit this driver well, anyone can! With a short, quick, aggressive swing that closes the face down, I have struggled with low snap hooks from drivers for ever. Finding a driver with an open face and stiff shaft yet forgiving with high launch properties is tough. Went from pulling a driver once or twice a round to now being disappointed when I can't hit one! I would list how far I am hitting it but it might cause some to discredit my review, simply put, it is LONG :)

Thank you Cobra!

I recently purchased this driver and what can I say, best investment I've made for my golf game! I went from hitting a disappointing 5/14 fairways to hitting an amazing 12/14. I added atleast 30 yards to my drives as well! I will be a repeat customer! Can't wait to get the new amp irons!

I bought it at dicks for like $200. it was good in the store, i bought over an older version of a callaway because i thought that the head adjustments would help. when i first played the shaft snapped in half. the people at cobra refused to replace for a week. when they replaced it they said it voided the warranty, anyways when would hit its went higher then my old club a taylormade burner 420. that was about it. even on the closed setting it didn't offer very much support. but when you hit it good you know you've done well. but not worth the money, mainly because of the cheap materials they use to make their products then don't fix 'em good job cobra, never buying again!

***

Dear Marc,

The AMP driver was Tour tested and we don't hear a lot of comments like yours. Nevertheless we are sorry to hear about your troubles. In the end, it sounds like your shaft was replaced, so that's good. But your comments about it going too high make us wonder if there was a basic fitting issue? If you weren't fit for the club, that may be why you weren't seeing the performance and launch characteristics you were hoping for. If there is anything specific we can do to make you happy, please get in touch with us at support@cobragolf.com.

Regards,

I previously owned a Taylormade RBZ, and as much as I tried, I could not grow to like it. I bought my Cobra 8.5 stiff 65G driver about a week ago and absolutely love it. Amazing ball flight and the sound is just so pure.

I've had this club for two weeks now, enough time to hit plenty of balls and make small adjustments to my setup. This club is simply amazing. Much longer than the Callaway Diablo Edge that it replaces (the Diablo cracked on the sole). And this is the first driver I have been able to hit a draw with. Simply an amazing club, and I can't quit telling my friends about it. Now I'm looking into an AMP fairway club. Great job Cobra, you have a new customer!

I just recently had a baby about 10 months ago and havent been to the range or played a round in almost a year. Well I found a great price on an Amp driver 10.5 degree in X-Stiff and that thing is a rocket ship! I have a pretty fast tempo and that RIP Shaft has no problem keeping up. I've hit every new driver on the market recently trying to work my way back into it and this is the only driver that hit 280-290 on the fly and straight almost every time. Great driver and Im looking into those amp forged and the S3 Pro combo irons with KBS C-Taper Stiff+, just havent decided on which ones yet. Keep up the great work Cobra!!!

I don't normally review items frankly because I don't really trust other peoples opinions on golf clubs. I believe that a golf clubs should be fit to your swing and specs. How can you trust someone else's opinion about a golf club? You don't know that person's swing is. HOWEVER, this club is simply amazing. I carry a 7-12 handicap, it depends on how my back is holding up on any given day. I used to play nothing but Taylormade's TP line. I started back in 2004 with the R510 TP, R5 Dual TP, R7 TP, R425 Quad TP, and the last 07 Burner TP. I say last because after 2007 Tayorlmade has stopped making quality products and have started focusing on QUANTITY and marketing. I played the 07 burner for several years and went on the market a few weeks ago. I went in to a PGA superstore in myrtle beach with an open mind to try all the new drivers. My swing speed is 109 and I prefer an 8.5 degree. I tried the Ping Anser, RBZ, R11s, Callaway , Nike vrs, G20, Adams Fast 12, Titelist 910, Cobra ZL Encore, and of course the AMP. It came down to the AMP, Anser, and 910. I went into the hitting bay with the big screen that shows you the ball after you hit it, you know what I'm talking about. After spending ab out 45 min in there with just those 3. The AMP was my longest drive at 321 after role out. It was also the cheapest with a price tag now at 199. Well dont take my word for it, go try it yourself. You may be surprised by the quality and the FEEL. I'm 25 and I like the loud color scheme, however, I did change the grip the minute I got home. I'll stop rambling now because if I was reading this Im thinking it cant be THAT good. Trust me, IT IS. Cobra I applaud you and you now have a new convert for your line. Next time I go for any club, I'll never overlook you anymore!

Today I trade a Callaway Razr Fit driver in for an AMP. Best purchase in golf in a long time. My opinion best driver on the market. Beautiful at address and easy to control. Tried closed and open setting. Prefer N setting. Ball is very hot off the face. I bought a 2008 Cobra fairway off of a friend. Only because I didn't carry a 3 wood. Tried it while we're playing and bombing it off the tee and deck. Very impressed. A few weeks ago bought Callaway driver. Very unimpressed on the course. Did not like the feel and look. Shaft was whippy. Traded it for AMP. Purchased without hitting it. Lost 50 bucks on trade, but well worth it. Very consistant performance. Now looking to buy AMP irons. Great products.

Kudos to Cobra for making a driver that me, a player who has never hit a driver well, can hit, and can hit without a ridiculous slice. I was getting fitted for a new driver at my nearest Golf Galaxy, and was about to choose between the Taylormade Burner 2.0, some Nike driver, and the Callaway RAZR Hawk. I liked the Nike, was OK with the Burner, and absolutely hated the RAZR Hawk. I was about to choose and had a sudden urge to ask about the AMP, and I am so glad I did. I did great in the fitting area, and that was without the closed setting on the clubface. Now that I have the face closed I can hit it pretty straight, if not dead accurate. Tonight, my highschool played against our rival team, just across the river from us. Although my team lost, I shot my personal best score ever, all thanks to my new driver. Thanks, Cobra! *** You got it RFHS Pedro! Good luck with your game and let us know how your season goes on Facebook. -Your friends at COBRA Golf

BEAUTIFUL!!!! Im only 16 and ive been playing 3 years, this was exactly what i needed. I hit with one today at Dick's Sporting Goods. I Plan on getting this one or the encore zl.. There were people hitting before and after me that were mis-hitting and getting nervous, but when i put the club in front of me i was instantly confident in my swing.. i hit it a very consistent 270yrds, blowing my old trusty r7 right outta my bag!! There were people complimenting how my swing looked with this club.. Right after i put this perfect club down, i decided to hit a r11s and a rbz.. highly disapointed at how they couldnt even compare to the Amp driver. its everything i could ask for.. extreme distance.. Completely unique.. beautiful appearance in and out of my bag! Absolutely an All cobra player now.. the ball flew off this club face.. a must have for any golfer. no questions asked!!!!

This is now my favorite club in my bag. My drives are wayyy straighter than they were and they are much farther. This club is indescribable and incredible. I went to play the other day and out drove the # 1 seed on my high school's golf team. It was the first time I had ever hit with the club on the course. This club leaves me speechless everytime I swing it.

I was really getting disgusted with my game. I had just bought a complete set of the #1 clubs on tour and I thought it was just my body telling me it was time to give up the game. I couldn't hit my drives 200 yards, my longest irons were only going 140 yards. I just thought I was getting too old. I even did all the stretching and exercising. I bought all the latest swing aides, all to no avail. My son talked me into going to our local Golf Mart and getting on a launch monitor. We tried all kinds of different clubs all with pretty sad results. Then the customer assistant fixed up a Cobra AMP Driver with a 11.5 degree head, set to open with a Lite shaft. It was like there was different person hitting the ball. I was carrying the ball 200 yards and better and running out another 40 to 50 yards. I bought the driver and a set of Cobra AMP irons. My scores have dropped from the high 80's to the low 80's. I am consistently down the middle of the fairway. I can't believe the ease of hitting the driver and the irons are fantastic. My irons have picked up 1 club length on a normal hit. If I play the ball back about 2 inches I can stretch it out to 2 club lengths. I plan on buying a new AMP 3 wood and new AMP hybrids. I'm Amped!

The AMP 9.5 was the first cobra club i had bought. I got it after trying a bunch of drivers out at dicks. I didnt hit my furthest balls with it, but its consistancy was unmatched. Out of the store and in my bag i am hitting almost all my fairways and have the control to set up where i want the ball to land. Since my first great experiances with the AMP driver i got the 3 wood and 2 trusty rusties. I am such a fan of this brand now that I will complete my bag with cobra. I just want to try the forged irons out before dropping the cash on them. Great clubs love them all.

At 66-years-old I had lost a lot of distance, and my high handicap proved that. I was hitting my drives only 175 yards. So I went to my local golf shop and the first driver I picked up was the Cobra AMP. You may think I'm crazy, but I felt that the AMP was talking to me, saying, take me home. The club felt different some how. The balance, the look everything. To make a long story short I hit every driver in the store, but I kept going back to the AMP. I left the store and went back the next day. Same thing. I hit everything I could get my hands on, however the Cobra won the battle of the drivers. Off to the golf course I went: Down the middle and over 240 yards with every stroke. I could not believe my joy. I was hitting my second shots with much shorter clubs than I was used to. That first day I knocked off five strokes from my usual and dismal score. Things have turned around for me thanks to the AMP. Thrilled is not a good enough adjective to describe my feeling. I just tossed out one of my fairway woods to make room for the AMP fairway club. I can hardly await until it arrives. It amazes me that one club can bolster my belief that I can still play good golf. Can you imagine what the two AMPs can do for my new and improved game.

I have been demoing a 10.5 deg stiff shaft AMP driver after breaking 2 other drivers within a week (a shaft and a cracked face). I took about 3-4 demo drivers to the range and started to hit them. I was impressed with the AMP and I put it in my bag. I played so far two rounds with it but it is one of the best drivers I've had in a long time. I hit it consistently 260-270 down the middle, which is about 10 yards longer than my previous drivers (brand name). I used to play stiff shafts in all my clubs until a couple years ago, and I was skeptical about the stiff shaft. Hitting balls on the range with a pro however changed my mind. I could swing as hard as I wanted without loosing anything left (my usual miss) and with a very nice trajectory. I think the stock stiff shaft in this driver may not be as stiff as custom fitted shafts, but it works for me

Was getting sick of my Taylormade Burner 2.0 going all over the place (cheap, whippy shaft) so I went to look for something new. Being a lefty is a challenge to find equipment, but I called my local pro shop and lo and behold they had a 9.5 stiff. Traded in the TM and didn't even hit balls at the range, instead went straight to the course to play 18. I'll be damned if I didn't have the best day of driving in years (not since my Cobra LD days....ironically enough). Thus, I am not looking back, and all of my Lefty relatives are going to be welcome to give it a rip. If Amp Driver sales show a steady increase, in the lefty department, in the Northern Indiana area I expect a slight commission (perhaps a 3 wood?). Nonetheless, thank you Tom and the rest at Cobra.

I have the 9.5 stiff, 55g RIP shaft, and am a 8 handicap. After falling in love with and carrying all 3 AMP hybrids (and I had never owned a Cobra club before), even though I had bought a new driver this year, I knew it was just a matter of time till I gave the driver a try - and now it's already the best club in my bag and I even hit it on holes which I used to tee off with a hybrid. This driver is just a ridiculously good golf club, and there's nothing out there like it. It's light, the stock RIP shaft is great, the silver headed look at address is unique, but to me, the greatest, unparalleled thing about the driver IS THE FACE. It's soft, and I read something about it having an inverted bulge which makes the ball shoot off the head straighter - and that works. It seems most drivers have a hard face, which between my ears makes me afraid it's gonna shoot off the face way left or way right. Forget about that with the AMP. And I believe there isn't a huge difference between how far you can hit any of the new drivers. But show me one I can control....and Cobra has done that. And the sound off the face is pleasantly quiet. I call this club All Day because I hit it plenty long enough and in play all day long. I've had it for 3 rounds and a few hours of range time and I have yet to hit an ugly shot with it! Not one! More from the are you kidding me? department...the first time out with the AMP driver, my cousin asked if he could hit it on the 10th hole because I was striping every drive down the middle. Then he did the same the whole back 9 (and is now getting one himself). Then my brother hit it on 17 and roped in down the middle himself. The day ended with zero bad drives by any of us with it. This club makes me seem to put better swings on the ball as well-you just learn to trust it. If you are looking for more accuracy off the tee, with plenty of pop if you wanna load up, you're making a huge mistake by not checking out the AMP driver. Unbelievable job, Mr. (or Ms.) Cobra AMP Designer!

Home run. Golf digest lists the (not) on this driver as only being three adjustable settings. If this club doesnt make tee shots longer and straighter you need lessons not a new driver. Cobra nailed it with sound and feel. Im done with r11tp,and wish I would have tried the amp sooner. On another note I put it head to head with the razrfit (which wasnt bad for callaway) and the amp was better in performance and feel. I am a 4 hcap with friend that is a taylormade rep and I can tell you there are no deals on taylormades that will make me pull the amp out of my bag.

I got this driver about a month ago (9.5, stiff) and I totally love it. I went from an R7 SuperQuad which for the last few years I would try all the new drivers but didn't think any of the gains from them out wieghed the extra cost. I mean, I hit the thing 280-290 half the time. So I tried this out against about 3other big names that came out in 2012 R11s, RBZ, and Razr X, and this out preformed them on the monitor, and felt way better, and looks better (imho). The RBZ had the same price but felt...flat I guess. But the AMP has got some life to it, sounds great. I have played it 10times now, side by side against the SuperQuad and it was worth it. One thing, I would like to tinker with it a bit, is there any place I can get some of the FCT sleeves for this to put some other shafts into? I know that you guys matched the shafts to the club heads for player types, but just asking. Anyway great, GREAT product this thing is a solid addition. *** Hi NavyGreg - we LOVE hearing about your AMP trial and how it's working so well for you. Thanks for passing along the nice note. As for the hosel sleeve, we do not sell that separately. However, you can order any of our aftermarket shafts with the hosel sleeve professionally installed by our technicians. Also, if you can get to one of our Demo Days, we generally have a large variety of shafts with the hosel sleeve installed so you can find a shaft you like before buying. This driver is simply putÉ amazing. My wife surprised me with a full seat of AMP irons, AMP driver, + AMP three wood today. She purchased them at Edwin's Golf, so I had to go up there and get fitted for them. I normally drove the ball 240-255 with my old driver, and today my longest drive was 291. The golf pro helped me with everything. At first he gave me a 9 degree driver, and after switching to a 10.5 I automatically gained 20 yards right away. I actually liked my old driver, so I was a little nervous about trying this club out. Glad I did. Like my other driver, it feels great when you hit the sweet spot, but the main difference I have found with the AMP driver is that if you aren't exactly in the sweet spot, the ball still pops off the club face hot and with good distance. It also minimizes the occasional, wild off-line shot. My fairways in regulation have gone up considerably since switching. This is a great driver. Also love the look of the club standing over the ball.

I thought it felt nice and forgiving so I picked one up, I took it out, it was hitting long, I put it in the open position and suddenly it was driving really long with a baby fade....perfect!

My local golf professional at Dick's Sports, Scott in Concord, N.C., turned me loose with a 9.5/ stiff on the launch monitor; from the very first swing I could tell I would not be leaving the store without this driver. After a couple of warm up swings, we started looking at the numbers; #s never lie, right? Well we noticed ball speed was up @ 10mph, ball carry up 20-25yds, and ball distance up 40+yds. These numbers were compared with my two year old Cleveland Launcher 8.5 degree driver. I've been AMPed, and there is no going back!

I tested all the new drivers this month (Feb 2012) and ended up purchasing the Amp 9.5 stiff. This club has a new nickname. I call it the fairway splitter. I dumped my 910D2 Project X for this club and am super happy with the switch. Cobra has done a great job with the AMP lineup and I'll be getting the AMP Forged irons to replace my AP2's in April when they're released.

As always, Cobra Golf doesn't let me down with their driver! I got the new AMP driver in a 9.5 degree loft. Let me tell you this driver hits the ball LONG! I am extremely happy and I like the orange makes my golf bag pop!
